Two injured in morning roll over in Stafford

On December 5, 2016, at approximately 7:35 AM, The Stafford Township Police Department responded to a vehicle crash involving a sports utility vehicle and van.  Preliminary investigation revealed the sports utility vehicle being driven by Adam J Bakos, 17 years old of Manahawkin, NJ was traveling east on Route 72 approaching Stafford Park Boulevard.  The van, being driven by Anthony M Walker, 59 years old of Neptune, NJ was attempting to make a left hand turn from Stafford Park Boulevard onto Route 72 westbound. 
As Mr. Bakos entered the intersection Mr. Walker entered the intersection, at which time the impact occurred.  As a result of the impact Mr. Bakos vehicle rolled over.  Both drivers sustained internal injuries.  Mr. Walker was transported to the Southern Ocean Medical Center for further medical evaluation.  Mr. Bakos was later driven, by a family member, to the Southern Ocean Medical Center for further medical evaluation.  The condition of both drivers is unknown at this time.
Traffic on Route 72 was stopped and rerouted around the scene for approximately 1 hour.
Ptl. Jillson is the investigating officer.  Assisting on scene were the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company, the Stafford Township Volunteer EMS and the MONOC paramedics. 
Mr. Walker received a summons for careless driving.  This matter is pending as future court date in Stafford Township Municipal Court.
