Two cars collided head-on at Mayetta Landing Road Tuesday around 7:30 p.m., injuring two adults and a 5-year-old child, police said.
Paige Spano, 20, of Tuckerton, was driving south in her 1995 Geo Metro when Eileen King, 51, of Cedar Run, crossed the center line in her 2013 Chrysler 300 sedan and struck Spano’s car, police said. The child in King’s car was her grandchild, said Lt. James Vaughn of the Stafford Police Department on Thursday morning.
Spano was extensively injured and was airlifted to Atlantic City Trauma Center, police said, where Vaughn said she still remains. King suffered minor damage, and the child, who was not in a booster seat, suffered moderate injuries, police said.
The child was airlifted to Jersey Shore Trauma Center, had injuries treated and was released, police said. King was out of the hospital by Thursday, Vaughn said.
King is charged with reckless driving, failure to stay in her own lane and failure to properly secure the child in her car, police said.
Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Witnesses can contact police at 609-597-1189, x 8436.
